Veteran's Day letter

This year, we celebrated Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, November 11. Due to COVID-19, our celebration in observance of this day looked a little different, but Monroe Central still wanted to make sure we took the time to thank and recognize all of our veterans, while maintaining social distancing protocols.

Intervention Specialist Molly Davidson asked students to write letters to both veterans and active-duty soldiers as a way of honoring all those who have served and are serving our country. Ms. Davidson will also be mailing any non-perishable food items donated by students along with the letters to deployed troops.

“My older brother received the title of Major after serving for over 11 years. He was deployed for 15 months in Afghanistan and Iraq,” says Ms. Davidson. “My grandfather was also in the army and fought in World War II. Honoring those who have or are currently serving is important, and I thought this was a great way to do that.”
