The Monroe Central girls’ and boy’s basketball teams are moving into the second half of their seasons after incredible success in the first. Both teams are sitting on multiple wins, with great contributions from their players.

The boys’ basketball team won their game against Richmond Edison this week, bringing their score up to 9-4 this season, with another game to be played tonight, January 29. The team has five senior players: Garet Cramer, Auston Hogue, Luke Burkhart, Cooper Thompson, and John Peterson. In addition, the team has a fair amount of juniors: Collin Kroll, Malachi Rose-Burton, Dillon Lincoln, Jake Swisher, Kade Demchak, and Austin Yonak. “We have balanced scoring with our leading scorers being Malachi, Auston, Luke, and Garet; we have also received great contributions from Collin, Dillon, and Cooper,” says Coach Perkins.

The Lady Noles are also sitting high with a score of 10-4. The girls’ have taken wins from Barnesville, Shenandoah, and Caldwell twice each, and beaten River, Bridgeport, Buckeye Local, and Frontier one time each. The girls’ average points per game is 55.3, while their opponents are averaging 45.7. Great contributions in points have come from players Kalista Friday, Haylyn Hiles, Kynzi Bishop, and Morgan Kendall. The Lady Noles would like to send their love to their teammate, Trista Morris, who is still recovering from a car accident which occurred in the middle of December. Coach Baker is incredibly proud of the team’s work so far.

“We greatly appreciate the continued support of the community of our student athletes and miss the crowds at our games,” Coach Perkins states. “We are happy to be able to livestream the games so that many that cannot attend are still able to watch.”
